Nyoro Warns EPRA Over Fuel
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has launched a sharp attack on the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority after fuel prices were raised to new highs.
Taking it to X on October 14, Nyoro accused EPRA of staging late consultations to justify a hike Kenyans cannot afford.
“EPRA and associates, as you pretend to consult till late to purport to increase fuel prices, know that Kenyans will not accept that nonsense. Do not dare,” he wrote.
The regulator announced Super Petrol up by Sh12.93 to Sh226.96 per litre in Nairobi, diesel by Sh9.90 to Sh227.76 and kerosene by Sh28.49 to Sh219.87 for the October 15 – November 14 cycle.
Nyoro went further, claiming President William Ruto was benefiting from the crisis and alleging that the same group had taken over Turkana oil and was a minority shareholder in the Dangote East African Petroleum Refinery project.
He called the alleged greed unacceptable. The MP also predicted the increase was a gimmick to spark public anger, after which the government would announce a Sh10 subsidy to appear as saviours.
He demanded VAT exemption on fuel, cuts to the fuel levy, and subsidies.
