The government has released Ksh2.43 billion for the June 2026 cycle of the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme, reaching more than 1.2 million elderly persons and Kenyans living with severe disabilities across the country.
According to the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, Sh2,426,322,000 will be paid to 1,213,161 registered beneficiaries.
Each person is set to receive Ksh2,000 to help cover basic needs like food, health care and shelter.
Principal Secretary Joseph Motari said the programme remains a cornerstone of the government’s social protection strategy, aimed at easing poverty and promoting dignity for those aged 70 and above and people with severe disabilities.
Payments are being sent through contracted banks and mobile money platforms, making it easier for beneficiaries who struggle to travel.
The ministry also warned the public against a fake “Inua Jamii Foundation Empowerment” scheme circulating on WhatsApp, urging people to ignore such messages.
