Deadly Walk Home
A university night out ended in bloodshed after a 20-year-old student was allegedly stabbed by a fellow student while making his way home in the early hours of Saturday.
Kelvin Murimi, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Economics student at Murang’a University of Technology, was allegedly attacked in the VM area of Murang’a town after leaving an event held at the university.

According to police, Murimi suffered a deep stab wound to the left side of his abdomen and lost a significant amount of blood. He was rushed to Murang’a Level Five Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say Murimi identified the alleged attacker as his coursemate shortly before his death. The circumstances leading to the confrontation, however, remain unclear, with detectives yet to establish the motive behind the attack.
Officers from Murang’a Police Station and Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives visited the hospital as investigations began. Crime-scene officers also secured and processed the scene as detectives worked to piece together what happened before the stabbing.
Murimi’s body has been preserved at Murang’a Level Five Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy, which is expected to provide further information on the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police have not disclosed whether an arrest has been made as investigations continue into the alleged killing.
The case has left unanswered questions over what happened between the two students in the moments before the fatal attack , and why a university event ended with one student dead.
