Traffic and farming ground to a halt along Transmara’s Natembeya Road after renewed border violence between communities in Narok and Kisii counties.
According to Transmara West Police Commander Gatuko Joseph, the confrontation began following reports of cattle theft near the border with Bomachoge Borabu.
Witnesses said rival groups armed with bows and arrows clashed along the roadside, leaving eight people injured.
One man was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital in critical condition with an arrow wound to the neck and underwent a six-hour surgery.
“We have not seen such a break in peace in a long time,” Gatuko said adding that GSU officers were immediately deployed to the Natembeya cutline area to restore order.
Security chiefs from Narok and Kisii held an emergency meeting with elders on site.
The incident reopens long-standing tensions.,in September 2025 the State Department for Lands completed a demarcation meant to end a 50year dispute between Moyoi and Angata Barrikoi sections.
Yet in nearby Nkararo, previous skirmishes between Siria and Uasin Gishu clans displaced nearly 200 people and burned homes.
County Commissioner Isaac Masinde urged residents to avoid mob justice and use dialogue, as peace committees work to address both land rows and cattle rustling.
