Kenyan social media has been awash with a bizarre colour mystery after some of the country’s biggest brands appeared to “lose” the colours synonymous with their identities.

The unusual online stunt began on Thursday, August 20, 2026, when brands started sharing cryptic posts claiming that their signature colours had mysteriously disappeared.

Jumia was among the first brands to raise the alarm, questioning the whereabouts of its familiar orange. What appeared to be an isolated social media post soon became a wider digital mystery as more companies joined the conversation.

Tecno, KCB, GA Insurance, Glovo, Farmers Choice and Naivas were among the brands that followed, each adding its own twist to the colour-themed narrative.

Tecno joked that it had checked its cameras and screens and even restarted its servers, but still could not account for the missing colour.

KCB also joined in with a playful post, joking that an internal search had found no missing colours in its vault and suggesting that the delivery team might have answers.

The mystery took another turn when Citizen Digital joined the conversation, suggesting that its own orange had also disappeared.

As more brands from different industries joined the trend, social media users began asking the same question: “Where is Kenya’s orange going?”

KFC Kenya further fuelled the speculation with a cryptic post hinting that it knew who was behind the disappearance, without revealing the alleged culprit.

The coordinated posts and similar messaging across unrelated brands have led many Kenyans to believe that the disappearing colours are part of a carefully orchestrated marketing campaign.

While the brands had yet to reveal the full story, the stunt had already achieved one thing , getting thousands of social media users talking and speculating about what could be behind the mysterious disappearance.

For now, the identity of the alleged colour thief remains a mystery, leaving Kenyans with one question: Who took Kenya’s colours?
