Wamuchomba Dumps UDA
Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has walked away from the ruling UDA party, accusing its leadership of double standards and selective justice in a move that could further shake up Kenya’s political alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Wamuchomba announced her exit saying she would neither seek re-election nor campaign for any political seat on a UDA ticket.
The MP said her decision followed consultations with her constituents, community leaders and the church, as well as personal reflection on her continued association with the ruling party.
She particularly criticised what she described as the selective application of justice, questioning why Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale had not been summoned over remarks she considered divisive, while other leaders had faced action.
Wamuchomba said she intends to defend her Githunguri seat in 2027 through a different political outfit, although she has not yet revealed which party she will join. She said the choice would be guided by consultations with her constituents.
