Tusker Face Continental Comeback Challenge
Tusker FC suffered a damaging 1–0 home defeat against Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars on Sunday, 18 October 2026, leaving the Kenyan side needing a strong away performance to keep its hopes of reaching the CAF Confederation Cup group stage alive.
According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Jeancy Mboma scored the decisive goal in the 52nd minute at Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium, giving Singida a narrow advantage in the first leg of their second preliminary-round tie. The Tanzanian visitors subsequently protected their lead to secure an important victory away from home.

Tusker had opportunities to take control of the match but could not convert them into goals. Their failure to find an equaliser means the Kenyan club must improve its finishing and defensive organisation in the return fixture. Singida, meanwhile, will travel into the second leg with an advantage, although qualification remains undecided.
The defeat represents a setback for Tusker’s continental ambitions. Progression would give the club another opportunity to compete against some of Africa’s leading teams and build on its experience in international competition. The return fixture is therefore crucial, not only for Tusker’s immediate campaign but also for Kenya’s representation in the tournament.
According to Kenyan media reports, the return leg is scheduled for Sunday, 25 October, in Tanzania. Citizen Digital reported that the match is expected to take place at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The venue and kick-off time should be reconfirmed with CAF before publication.
