Nairobi Senator and Linda Mwanachi principal Edwin Sifuna has dismissed claims that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is financing the opposition to remove President William Ruto from power.
Sifuna said the opposition’s close ties with Kenyatta should not be interpreted as evidence that the former president is funding efforts against the Kenya Kwanza administration.
He accused President Ruto of portraying the opposition as a political outfit without a clear agenda, arguing that its immediate objective is to defeat him in the 2027 General Election and then pursue its broader plans for the country.
Sifuna also criticised the Kenya Kwanza administration over what he described as a culture of political patronage, saying state institutions should serve all Kenyans fairly.
He said that if elected president, he would seek to strengthen public institutions and ensure they work for ordinary citizens rather than political interests.
The Nairobi senator further pledged his support for young political aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections, urging them to sell their policies and ideas to voters instead of relying on money to influence electoral choices.
He challenged the aspirants to focus on convincing Kenyans through their agendas, warning against the use of cash as a tool for winning political support.
