President William Ruto has appeared to widen his political war with the opposition, dragging KANU chairman Gideon Moi into his growing list of individuals he accuses of backing his rivals ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Ruto, who has recently stepped up attacks on his predecessor, retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of being among the sponsors of the opposition, now says Moi is also associated with the Standard newspaper, which he linked to the opposition.
The remarks come amid widely speculated political differences between Ruto and Moi as the country heads towards the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on the second day of his campaign tour of the South Rift, Ruto defended his administration’s development record while portraying the opposition as lacking a clear agenda for the country.
The President insisted that his government had a solid track record and a transformative plan that was already being implemented.
We have a solid track record. They have nothing apart from titles and many years. We have a transformative plan that we are implementing to transform Kenya,” Ruto said.
