Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro is today beginning his first major political tour in Murang’a after breaking ranks with President William Ruto and leaving the United Democratic Alliance.
Nyoro is scheduled to hold his inaugural People’s Tour in Mukuyu, Murang’a County, as he seeks to popularise his newly unveiled People’s Party of Kenya and build grassroots support ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The tour comes just days after Nyoro announced his decision to move into the opposition camp, marking a significant shift for a politician who had previously been regarded as a close ally of President Ruto.
His first engagement in Murang’a is being closely watched as an early indication of the level of support he commands in his political backyard.
Nyoro has also indicated that he intends to work with other opposition leaders as preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace.
The move has already triggered reactions from rival political camps, particularly leaders allied to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who have questioned Nyoro’s intentions and his new political formation.
