Maxine Wahome Acquitted in Asad Khan Murder Case
Rally driver Maxine Wahome has been acquitted of the murder of fellow rally driver and her former boyfriend, Asad Khan, bringing to an end a case that has drawn significant public attention since 2023.
In a judgment delivered on Tuesday, the High Court found that the prosecution had failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt and ruled that there was insufficient evidence to sustain a murder conviction.

Wahome, who had spent time in custody during the trial, embraced family members and supporters after the verdict was read.
Outside the courtroom, members of her rally team welcomed the decision, expressing confidence that she would soon return to competitive motorsport.
The acquittal clears the way for Wahome to resume her rally career after nearly three years of legal proceedings stemming from Khan’s death.
Addressing the media briefly after the ruling, Wahome said she looks forward to returning to the sport she loves while honouring Asad Khan’s memory through rallying.
