Kenya, Brazil Secure Football Victories
Kenya’s Emerging Stars and Brazil recorded important victories in international football, with Kenya defeating Tanzania 4–1 in the first leg of the 2027 U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on September 28, before Brazil overcame Australia 4–2 in an international friendly in Brisbane on September 29.

At Nyayo National Stadium, Kenya made a fast start against Tanzania as Paul Osama opened the scoring within the first minute. Lawrence Okoth doubled the advantage deep into first-half stoppage time, sending Kenya into the break with a 2–0 lead. Captain Kevin Wangaya then extended the lead five minutes after the restart before Tanzania pulled one back through Shekhan Khamis from the penalty spot. Kelly Madada restored Kenya’s three-goal advantage in the 75th minute to complete the 4–1 victory.

The result gives Kenya a strong advantage heading into the second leg in Tanzania on October 6. The Emerging Stars are seeking to progress through the qualifying rounds towards the 2027 U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, which will also serve as Africa’s qualification pathway for the 2028 Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, Brazil came from behind to beat Australia 4–2 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on September 29. Vanderson gave Brazil an early lead before Australia responded with goals from Alessandro Circati and Connor Metcalfe. Raphinha equalised from the penalty spot before halftime, while Bruno Guimarães put Brazil back in front in the second half after an assist from Endrick. Vinícius Júnior then converted another penalty to seal the victory.

The Brazil victory followed a 1–1 draw between the two nations four days earlier, giving Brazil one win and one draw from their two-match Australian tour. Brazil are scheduled to continue their preparations with another international friendly against India in Kolkata on October 3.
