Cardi B and Samyra Clash Again Over Old Navy Campaign
A previous dispute between rapper Cardi B and plus-size content creator Samyra has resurfaced after the influencer criticised Cardi’s new partnership with clothing retailer Old Navy.
The latest exchange began after Old Navy announced Cardi B as the face of its Fall 2026 “Most Wanted Denim” campaign, which features the rapper alongside several models and creators.
Samyra, a plus-size advocate who has frequently spoken about body inclusivity and representation in fashion, reacted to a teaser for the campaign in a TikTok video that has since been deleted.
Old Navy… That better not be who I think it is talking about. Y’all better do something with them,” Samyra said in the video, according to reports.
Her comments quickly drew attention online and prompted a response from Cardi B, who accused Samyra of attempting to interfere with her business opportunity.
I don’t mess with nobody for real… but trying to take money out my pockets is like takin’ chicken nuggets out my kids’ mouths,” Cardi said. “Trust, I become a whole demon ’bout my coins. NOW MOO THAT!!!”
The exchange has reignited tensions between the two women that date back to 2025.
At the time, Samyra criticised Cardi over comments concerning her plus-size fans and merchandise, arguing that the remarks contributed to wider concerns about fatphobia and the limited representation of larger body sizes in fashion and celebrity merchandise.
Cardi responded that she had been joking with her fans and maintained that Samyra had taken her comments too seriously and out of context.

Samyra has continued to advocate for greater representation of plus-size consumers. In an interview earlier this year, she specifically identified Old Navy as a brand she wanted to see improve its in-store availability of plus-size clothing, despite praising the retailer’s broader size range.
The renewed dispute therefore comes against the backdrop of a wider conversation about size inclusivity in fashion and the representation of plus-size consumers in major advertising campaigns.
Cardi’s Old Navy campaign, meanwhile, promotes a range of denim styles, including wide-leg, baggy and curved silhouettes. The rapper has also spoken publicly about her own changing relationship with denim, revealing that she once wore multiple pairs of tights underneath her jeans as a teenager because she felt insecure about having slimmer thighs and a smaller backside.
The latest clash has sparked further debate online, with supporters of both women weighing in on whether Samyra’s criticism was about body representation or whether Cardi was justified in defending a major commercial partnership.
For now, the dispute remains a social-media exchange, with neither woman indicating that the controversy has moved beyond their public comments.
