KQ Plane Tyre Bursts Safely
A Kenya Airways aircraft suffered a tyre burst while landing at Cape Town International Airport on Tuesday, temporarily closing the main runway.
Airports Company South Africa said the incident happened around 3:25 p.m. local time. Kenya Airways confirmed all passengers and crew disembarked safely, with no injuries reported.
The airline said the plane was declared Aircraft on Ground after technical checks, forcing the cancellation of the scheduled return flight to Nairobi.
Engineers are now carrying out repairs on site.Arriving flights were diverted to other airports, while domestic departures continued.
KQ apologized for the disruption and said it is arranging alternative travel for affected customers.
