American pop star Ariana Grande will take a break from public appearances after concluding her Eternal Sunshine world tour next month, with her team citing the impact of prolonged public scrutiny.
In a statement to People magazine, the 33-year-old singer’s representative said Grande would be “taking a step back from visibility” after completing the tour, describing the move as a necessary break following months of intense public attention.
As a result, Grande will no longer star in the upcoming revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George, which is scheduled to open at London’s Barbican Theatre in 2027. The production company, Empire Street Productions, confirmed her withdrawal, saying it fully supports her decision and wishes her well.
Grande had been set to appear alongside her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey in the highly anticipated musical production.
The announcement comes amid renewed public discussion surrounding the singer’s physical appearance and health, particularly following the release of her latest album, Petal. Its lead music video portrays a performer subjected to constant criticism over her appearance, highlighting themes of unrealistic expectations and online scrutiny.
