China Gives Kenya Ksh259 Million Grant
China has provided Kenya with a KSh259 million grant to support Ebola preparedness and drought relief across the country.
The funds were handed over by Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Guo Haiyan to Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo on Thursday, October 8.
Of the total grant, KSh129.5 million will be used to strengthen Ebola detection and response measures, while the remaining KSh129.5 million will support drought relief efforts.
The assistance comes shortly after Kenya reported its first imported Ebola case, with the patient later dying from the disease.
The grant is expected to strengthen Kenya’s preparedness to detect and respond to potential Ebola cases while also providing support to communities affected by drought.
