Cheating Claim Turns Deadly
An 18-year-old KCSE candidate is dead after what police suspect was a deadly fallout over alleged infidelity, with her boyfriend now the target of a manhunt after investigators found a chilling message at the scene.
Joy Wangui, a Form Four student at Molo Secondary School, was found dead at her family’s home in Kiambaa, Molo, Nakuru County, after her brother reported the killing to police.

Officers who arrived at the house found the teenager’s body in the kitchen, with an axe, panga and knives reportedly lying nearby. Her head was found separately in a corridor, according to the police report cited by local media.
Investigators also reported finding a message on the wall that allegedly read: “I love you Joy but never cheat, I am sorry.” The message has become a key part of the investigation as detectives try to establish what happened before the killing.
Police have identified Walter Kipkoech, said to be Wangui’s boyfriend, as the main suspect. He reportedly fled the scene following the incident, prompting officers to launch a manhunt for him.
The alleged cheating accusation is being investigated as a possible motive, although police have not conclusively established what triggered the killing.
Wangui was preparing to sit her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations when her life was cut short. Her death has sent shockwaves through the Molo community, while detectives continue searching for Kipkoech and investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing.
What began as an alleged accusation of cheating has now left an 18-year-old KCSE candidate dead and a suspect on the run, with detectives seeking answers to what happened inside the home before the fatal attack.
