Sifuna Unveils Equitable Party
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has finally unveiled his political vehicle for 2027 The Equitable Party (TEP).Sifuna was officially presented as the new leader and presidential flagbearer of TEP during an event in Nairobi on Sunday.
The move ends months of speculation about which party would carry his Linda Mwananchi Movement into the General Election.
TEP party leader Gilbert Marava said the outfit had agreed to restructure to accommodate Sifuna and his allies.
“Sifuna is going to run for president, and he will be the next leader of The Equitable Party,” Marava announced.
The party, registered in March 2022 and based along Mtito Andei Road off Lenana Road, uses gold and emerald colours and a weighing scale as its symbol.
Its slogan is”let us make it equal.”Sifuna said TEP will later seek to rebrand to Linda Mwananchi Movement, after the Registrar of Political Parties approved reservation of the LMM name following a tribunal ruling. If blocked, he will run under TEP.
Leaders present included Babu Owino, George Natembeya, James Orengo and Boni Khalwale, signalling a united front ahead of 2027.
