Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has challenged President William Ruto to use his State of the Nation Address to respond to pressing concerns facing Kenyans, including insecurity, healthcare, education and electoral transparency.
Speaking at his Nyeri residence during a meeting with members of the clergy, Gachagua said Kenyans would only be satisfied if the President’s address provided honest answers on the government’s performance rather than focusing on long-term plans.
He claimed the President was set to unveil the proposed Vision 2060 development agenda and alleged that its leadership would be handed to former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The former Deputy President also urged President Ruto to address claims that there are plans to prevent the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from live-streaming election results during future polls.

Gachagua maintained that Kenyans expect the President to account for his administration’s record and provide assurances on issues affecting governance, service delivery and the credibility of future elections.
