Sakaja hints at leaving UDA for ODM
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has confirmed that talks are ongoing over a possible move from the United Democratic Alliance, UDA, to the Orange Democratic Movement, ODM.
Speaking during a radio interview on Wednesday, Sakaja says he is consulting with various leaders before making a final decision. He also pointed to his close relationship with the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, saying Raila had previously encouraged him to join ODM.
The Nairobi governor has also maintained that he intends to defend his seat in the 2027 General Election, as political realignments continue to take shape ahead of the polls.
Sakaja says continuity is important for Nairobi, particularly in ensuring that ongoing development projects are completed despite changes in political leadership.
