GTA 6 Leaks Yet Again
Rockstar Games is facing a fresh wave of leaks after a group claiming to have access to a playable build of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) began circulating gameplay footage and game assets on social media.
The group, identified as CyberLeek, has reportedly shared several videos showing what appears to be gameplay mechanics, character assets and a map of the highly anticipated title. The authenticity and age of the leaked material, however, have not been independently confirmed.
According to reports, CyberLeek has threatened to release additional footage daily while using the leaked material to promote a cryptocurrency memecoin.
The latest video has intensified speculation that the group may have access to a playable version of GTA 6. In the footage, protagonist Jason Duval appears to spell out “LEEK” by firing bullet holes into a wall.
It remains unclear how old the alleged build is, how much of the game it contains or how the group obtained the material. Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, appear to be taking steps to have the leaked content removed from social media platforms.
CyberLeek has also issued demands to Rockstar, including reconsidering an alleged all-digital distribution strategy for GTA 6 and removing monetised single-player content. The group has warned other game publishers that they could also be targeted by future leaks.
Take-Two Interactive has not publicly commented on the latest claims.
The incident adds to a history of security breaches and leaks surrounding GTA 6. In September 2022, hackers released more than 90 videos showing the game in development, more than a year before Rockstar officially announced the title. The incident triggered an FBI investigation.
In December 2023, the first GTA 6 trailer was also leaked online a day before its scheduled release, forcing Rockstar to publish the official trailer earlier than planned.
Rockstar later disclosed a separate third-party data breach in which hackers accessed a limited amount of non-material information.
The latest leak comes as Rockstar prepares for another major GTA 6 marketing push. An extended gameplay presentation is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 27.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has described the Netflix partnership as only one part of the company’s broader marketing campaign for the game, calling it “one of the hors d’oeuvres” ahead of further promotional activity.
