Ndindi Nyoro joins opposition through PPK

Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has officially broken ranks with the ruling United Democratic Alliance, UDA, and joined the opposition through the People’s Party of Kenya, PPK.

Nyoro announced the move on Monday, saying he and his supporters had decided to join PPK after consultations with several political leaders.

The legislator, who was previously one of the prominent Mount Kenya supporters of President William Ruto, says PPK will operate from the opposition as the country heads towards the 2027 General Election.

Nyoro has urged Kenyans to consider PPK and its leadership when making their political choices next year. His decision follows months of consultations with opposition figures including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Martha Karua, Peter Munya, James Orengo, Edwin Sifuna, Kalonzo Musyoka and Fred Matiang’i.

The move is expected to generate fresh political calculations, particularly in the Mount Kenya region, where Nyoro has built a significant political profile.

Nyoro’s shift also comes at a time when political parties and movements are intensifying grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

His entry into the opposition could therefore influence coalition-building and the search for a possible presidential candidate.

For now, Nyoro says his political vehicle will be the People’s Party of Kenya as he seeks to play a bigger role in shaping Kenya’s political future.
