Reform UK has suspended two party officials following an undercover investigation into an alleged plot to bypass UK election donation rules.
Party leader Nigel Farage said the party had not broken any laws and insisted it had not accepted “dodgy money” or taken part in any illegal activity.
Farage admitted that some conversations recorded during the investigation “don’t look good”, saying the officials had made comments they “perhaps should not have said”.
He also rejected claims that he was aware of a plan to circumvent electoral law, arguing that the undercover operation amounted to “entrapment” and that he had been assured a proposed £500,000 donation was legal.
Farage further defended polling highlighted in the investigation, saying it had benefited Reform UK but was commissioned independently and was not funded or ordered by the party.
The controversy comes as Reform faces increased scrutiny over its political finances, with Farage maintaining that the party has acted within the law while distancing itself from the remarks made by the suspended officials.
