Goods consigned to Kenya Power, KCB Bank, Lifecare Hospitals, Reckitt Benckiser, the United Nations and other organisations face public auction after overstaying in Customs warehouses.The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) listed the consignments in notices published in the Kenya Gazette on September 18, giving owners 30 days to enter and remove the goods from Customs custody before they are treated as abandoned.
The notices cover goods held at the Inland Container Depot in Nairobi and several Container Freight Stations in Mombasa, with auctions scheduled for October and November through KRA’s online auction platform.The goods include electrical equipment, medical supplies, solar products, industrial materials, machinery parts and motor vehicles.
Among the consignments at the Nairobi Inland Container Depot are several lots listed under Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited. They include high-voltage SF6 circuit breakers and other high- and medium-voltage circuit breakers intended for Kenya.The notices were issued under Section 42 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, which provides for goods remaining in Customs warehouses to be treated as abandoned and sold by public auction if they are not removed within the prescribed period.
KRA has scheduled the auction for goods at the Nairobi Inland Container Depot from October 19 to 23, 2026, with viewing on October 15 and 16.
A separate auction covering Container Freight Stations in Mombasa is scheduled for October 26 to 30, while another covering Mombasa’s Cluster B2 is set for November 2 to 6.
