Eldoret Secured For Mashujaa Celebrations
Security has been heightened in Eldoret as the city prepares to host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kipchoge Keino Stadium on Tuesday, October 20.
Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Dr Abdi Hassan said in a press statement issued on Monday, that security agencies have strengthened coordination, intensified patrols and mapped out hotspots to ensure the national event is safe, orderly and peaceful.
The operation covers the stadium, designated parking zones, hotels and other accommodation facilities, critical installations and areas expected to attract large crowds.
Uniformed police officers, plain clothes officers and traffic police will be deployed around the venue, while National Government Administration Officers and National Youth Service personnel will guide the public during and after the ceremonial march-past.
Dr Hassan urged motorists and visitors to follow instructions from traffic officers, observe road signs and cooperate with security teams to ease movement in the city.

He warned that the celebrations do not grant immunity from the law.
“Anyone who engages in criminal activity, threatens public safety or disrupts peace will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” he said.
He added that patrols will continue before, during and after the celebrations, with additional personnel drawn from neighbouring counties and security at hotels reinforced.
