Gachagua Mourns Karua’s Beloved Father

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has condoled with People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua following the death of her father, Mwalimu Jackson Karua.
In a statement shared on his social media handles on Sunday, Gachagua said his family stands with Karua and her siblings during this painful moment.
“My sister, Hon. Martha Karua, and your siblings, I am sorry for the loss of your dear dad,” he wrote. “My family and I join you at this difficult moment and deeply console you.”
Gachagua described the late Mwalimu Jackson as an influential teacher whose impact went far beyond his home. He said the veteran educator shaped countless lives in the classroom and at home.
“Your dad was pivotal in shaping the lives he touched as a teacher and in raising a great patriot in Martha Karua and your siblings, whose contribution to our post-independence Kenya remains strong,” he said.
Mwalimu Karua died quietly on Sunday at his home in Kimunye village, Kirinyaga County. Karua had spent the day with him alongside her siblings, singing his favourite gospel hymn, not knowing it would be their last song together.
Gachagua closed with a prayer: “Pole sana, and may your dad rest in eternal peace.”
