The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) is launching the second edition of its Roadmap to a Peaceful General Election 2027, dubbed #UchaguziBilaNoma.
NCIC chairperson Bishop Kepha Omae is among the officials leading efforts to promote peaceful elections and curb political tensions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The initiative focuses on addressing hate speech, ethnic polarisation, political incitement and election-related violence.
The commission is calling on political leaders and parties to take responsibility for their supporters and avoid rhetoric that could inflame ethnic or political tensions.
NCIC is also pushing for political parties to sign a peace charter, committing themselves to peaceful campaigns and responsible political conduct.
The commission says it will work with institutions including the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the National Police Service and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties to identify and address potential sources of conflict.
With political activity already intensifying ahead of the 2027 polls, NCIC says early intervention, responsible leadership and cooperation among political actors will be key to ensuring Kenya holds a peaceful election.
