Kaluma Launches Counterattack
Homa Bay Town MP George Peter Kaluma has accused the Linda Mwananchi movement of orchestrating the violence witnessed in Homa Bay on Sunday, which left a trail of destruction.
Kaluma alleged that the movement recruited and brought goons into Homa Bay ahead of the rally, claiming they were responsible for attacks on residents during the event.
He also accused Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Caroli Omondi of allegedly organising and financing groups involved in the violence.
Calling for action against those he accused, Kaluma said:
Investigate, arrest and prosecute Governor James Orengo, Honorable Babu Owino, Honorable Caroli Omondi and Edwin Sifuna for planning, killing, and maiming our people under the guise of the 16th August rally.”
The MP further demanded the immediate removal of the Nyanza Regional Police Commander, whom he accused of protecting the Linda Mwananchi team and failing to take action during the chaos.
Defiant, Kaluma said he would continue to protect his constituents, declaring that he would defend his constituency “whatever it costs.”
Police have said they are investigating the Homa Bay violence and pursuing individuals suspected of involvement in the unrest.
