Kenyan singer Willy Paul became one of the major highlights of the Kamba Festival after making a surprise appearance at the event held at the KICC Nairobi Grounds on Saturday, September 19.
The festival, themed “Kyathi Ki Ilovi,” brought together Kamba musicians, entertainers and thousands of fans to celebrate Kamba culture, music and diversity.
The entertainment lineup included several established and emerging Kamba artistes. Performances from Kyeni Band, Kana Nicko, Kalasinga, John Muasa, Stephen Kasolo and others kept the audience entertained throughout the night.
Comedian Eric Omondi also took to the stage, adding comedy to an event that was largely dominated by musical performances.
The atmosphere became even more energetic when Willy Paul unexpectedly appeared on stage. The singer attracted attention with his newly dyed blonde hair and was accompanied by dancers.
He performed several of his popular love songs, with fans singing along and dancing throughout his set. His appearance introduced a contemporary pop sound to a festival that primarily celebrated Kamba music and culture.
The event continued into the early hours of Sunday, with more performances following Willy Paul’s appearance.
The festival demonstrated how music, comedy and cultural celebrations can come together to create a large entertainment experience while giving audiences an opportunity to celebrate their heritage.
