Four years after their bitter political divorce, President William Ruto has once again turned his fire on his former boss, Uhuru Kenyatta , accusing him of sabotaging his government and even linking him to the unrest witnessed in Kenya.
Ruto made the explosive remarks on Thursday as he concluded his Nyanza tour in Homa Bay County, where he accused Kenyatta of undermining his administration since he took over power in 2022.
For the last four years, you have sabotaged this administration,” Ruto said, alleging that the former president was unhappy with what he described as his government’s transformation record.
The President went further, reminding Kenyatta of their past political agreement, in which he claimed they had agreed to support each other’s presidential ambitions for 10 years.
Please, my brother Uhuru Kenyatta, stop undermining the government of Kenya, stop sabotaging the government of Kenya. It is unpresidential, it is unstatesmanlike,” Ruto said.
Ruto also linked Kenyatta to recent unrest and protests in the country, although the allegation was made by the President and was not established as fact.
The remarks marked a renewed public confrontation between the two former allies, who served together from 2013 to 2022 before their relationship deteriorated during the final years of the Jubilee administration.
Ruto’s political remarks came as he wrapped up his Nyanza tour with a series of development activities in Homa Bay, including projects in Kabondo-Kasipul, Karachuonyo, Suba South and Homa Bay Town.
Among the projects highlighted were modern markets, roads and the establishment of the Sindo Kenya Medical Training College, as the President continued to defend his administration’s development record in the region.
