Former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru is back in the Nairobi governor contest.
Wanjiru on Sunday, announced at Jesus Is Alive Ministries that she will run in 2027 under the Kenya Moja Movement, Kenya moja party, with the slogan Nairobi Mpya.
She said Nairobi is crying out for a leader who is honest, firm and dependable, someone residents can trust with county resources. She insisted her return is not about ambition but a call to serve.
The bishop resigned as Nairobi Rivers Commission chair on August 13, thanking President Ruto for the appointment made in October 2024.
She has since taken over leadership of the new Kenya moja movement and aligned it with the opposition.
Wanjiru, MP for Starehe from 2007 to 2013, says her 10 point plan will clean up the city, create jobs, improve water, health and roads, and fight corruption.
